Updates to the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E300 in a Nutshell
The E300 is a new model for 2018 that replaces the E350 from 2016. Both of these cars are based on the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, which means they are similar. The engine is the most significant difference between the 2016 E350 and the 2017 E300. The E350 sports a 302-hp V6, while the E300 has a 241-hp 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder.
The 7-speed automatic transmission in the 2016 model has been replaced with a 9-speed. While the 2018 E300's power output is somewhat lower than its predecessor, it is more efficient and will never feel under powered. The entire 2017 E-Class received a makeover and a broad range of upgrades, in addition to the particular engine modification on the E300.
The 2018 E-Class vehicles, notably the E300, are curvier than their 2016 blocky counterparts. The E-Class has also grown significantly, with an overall length of 1.7 inches and a wheelbase of 2.6 inches. The inside of the E-Class has been overhauled as well, with a more organic look and sweeping wood trim running across the dashboard between the doors.
The new E-Class also features a 12.3-inch display panel that can be combined with an optional extra screen to form a huge widescreen display. The COM AND system in the 2018 E-Class have been enhanced with clearer visuals and additional controls, including touch-operated control pads on the steering wheel and a touch-operated pad above the screen. PRE-SAFE Sound and upgraded Active Brake Assist are two more new features that come standard.
Active Brake Assist has been improved, and Evasive Steering Assist and PRE-SAFE Impulse Side are now available. Finally, heated armrests on the center console and doors, as well as 64 different hues of interior ambient lighting, are now available.

History of the Mercedes-Benz E300 and E-Class
The first Mercedes-Benz E-Class cars were introduced in 1993, however, they were preceded by five generations of models from 1953 to 1993. The W124 was the first E-Class sedan, introduced in 1993, and it only lasted a few years before receiving a substantial redesign. By 1998, the E-Class had received a redesigned wagon variant, as well as a more fuel-efficient V6 engine, front passenger airbag, Brake Assist, and Baby Smart airbags.
In 1999, more airbags were introduced, and in 2000, there was a minor upgrade that included interior and exterior improvements, new wheels, and updates to the COM AND system. In 2009, the audio system was modified to include a six-disc CD changer and memory card, while the interior materials were changed the following year.
