Which supercars can boast of being the "fastest on the planet"? Here is the pinnacle of these devices, shown in visuals and figures that defy the mind. [Updated on 10 February 2022] What is the world's quickest car? If the question appears straightforward, the solution is designed to be more complex. 

To date, several supercars, both legal and unofficial, may lay claim to the title. Sport Auto has classed the models above (slideshow) for you, taking into consideration the "speed" criterion, to clarify the discussion.

This may or may not have been accomplished "according to the rules," declared by the makers, or predicted, like in the case of the upcoming Bugatti Bolide or even the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut, both of which have the potential to exceed 500 km/h. Precision: all the supercars/hypercars in our top ten surpass 400 km/h, which isn't terrible!

THE TUATARA SAGA OF THE SSC

• Since January 2021, the Tuatara, designed by SSC North America, has been the fastest automobile on the planet. The hypercar was approved for road usage after passing the round-trip test necessary for its record to be validated, with the final speed remaining the average of the two "runs."

• SSC, on the other hand, had its initial record attempt called into doubt due to data problems, prompting the brand to return to work for two more tries, the third of which was successful. In this post, we have all the data of the "SSC Tuatara Saga" as well as a video of the record.

HYPERSPACE BUGATTI

The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ is the world's fastest supercar in terms of "pure" performance, taking into account all parameters. Andy Wallace, a test driver from Molsheim, reached 490.48 km/h on the Volkswagen test track in Ehra-Lessen, Germany, on August 2, 2019.

IN THE ARENA, HENNESSEY OR KOENIGSEGG?

While the search for new records is surely far from ended, SSC now has a new standard to beat in 2021, giving them enough time to rest their heads before trying the next level. 

However, the competition is run behind the scenes, and other "monsters" such as the new Hennessy Venom F5 or the Bolide may contemplate entering the Guinness Book of World Records. Unless the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut, which is rumored to have a top speed of... 531 km/h, comes along to contribute its two cents?

WHY NOT THE DEVEL SIXTEEN, TOO?

Is this a familiar name to you? Although the Devil Sixteen (see our slideshow) was shown at the 2013 Dubai Motor Show, witnessing it break speed records for real would signal the (definitive?) end of hiatus.

Devel Sixteen

Devel Sixteen, with a 0-60 acceleration time of 2.6 seconds and a peak speed of 278 mph (447 km/h), has already established global records for the fastest production automobile.

Yet, through it hasn't even been released, it's simple to imagine how it will establish itself as one of the world's fastest supercars by 2022. Driving at these speeds is now safer than ever thanks to new driver aid technology from Mobileye. What about Ludicrous Mode, though? It does tell a lot about where we're going that something faster than fast is required to express performance.

What vehicle has the quickest top speed in 2022?

The Hennessy Venom GT, with a peak speed of 270 mph (435 km/h), is the fastest vehicle on the road right now. To put that in perspective, the 2009-released Bugatti Veyron, one of the fastest vehicles on the road today, has a peak speed of 267 mph (430 km/h).

So, if you want to know which supercars will be among the quickest by 2022, you should look at vehicles traveling at speeds between 270 and 305 mph (435 and 490 km/h). Here are some possible choices: Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, McLaren Senna, Aston Martin Vulcan AMR Pro, and Bugatti Chiron.

This is because its speed is electrically limited and that it lacks a transmission or shifting system. Due to these restrictions, its peak speed will probably be raised in the future, maybe to around 250+ mph (400+ km/h).
