Following a call for tenders, a long-term agreement was signed between the FIA and Eurosport Events with a broad commitment to promoting the new FIA Electric Touring Car World Cup at the highest level of the world. International competition.

PURE ETCR's first season begins in June 2021, with a five-round schedule that comprises four European events and one Asian tournament. The FIA's decision to award the PURE ETCR World Cup classification based on ETCR technical standards is the cherry on top of the FIA and WSC's excellent cooperation, which began in 2018 with the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup's selection of the TCR technical code as the cornerstone.
